Ever stared at a draft invoice in TimeSolv, willing it to be perfect before hitting send? This week’s blog post equips you with the knowledge to transform your drafts from good to great. Dive into the world of draft invoices in TimeSolv, giving you the power to edit them before sending them out. 

Unleashing the Edit Dragon

First things first, access your draft invoices. Head to Invoices > Drafts and click the invoice amount to open the editing chamber. 

The General’s Orders

The General Tab is your mission control. Set the invoice date, define the timeframe for entries, and label it clearly (the Matter name is a good starting point). You can even choose a billing template to ensure a consistent look. Don’t forget to tick the “Review Completed” box if your firm requires a final check before sending. 

Delivery Decisions

How will your masterpiece reach its destination? The Invoice Delivery Methods section offers options for printed PDFs, email delivery, or TimeSolv’s AutoMail service (perfect for those who prefer a hands-off approach, with a paid subscription). 

Addressing Your Audience

The Addresses Tab ensures your invoice reaches the right hands. Edit “From” and “To” addresses, including email details. Need to update client/matter contact information? Use the “Update From Client/Matter” or “Save To Client/Matter” functions for a streamlined process. 

The Narrative Nook

The Narratives Tab is your chance to personalize the invoice with your voice. Craft custom text for various sections using the Text Editor. Want to get fancy? HTML, Plain Text, image uploads, and even embedded videos are at your disposal! The “Paid Invoice Email Message” is where you express gratitude to clients who settle their dues quickly (remember, this requires a credit card processing vendor). 

Time for Time Entries

The Time Tab is your zone for managing billable hours. View existing entries, add new ones for forgotten tasks, or edit details as needed. The “Include Missing” button is a lifesaver, ensuring all billable time makes it onto the invoice. Want edits to reflect on the original time entry as well? Check the “Update Original Time Entry as well” box. Need to put a time entry on hold? No problem! The “Hold” function keeps it out of this invoice but ready for the next one. Feeling like a ninja yet? 

Expense Expeditions

Similar to time entries, the Expense Tab lets you include missing expenses or edit existing ones. Make sure everything your client owes is accounted for. 

The Interest Isle (for Applicable Invoices)

If your invoice includes interest (due to late payment), the Interest Tab allows you to override the calculated amount if necessary. 

The Total Triumph

The Totals Tab displays your invoice’s grand finale. Here you can make adjustments (use negative numbers for reductions!) or apply a discount percentage. The “Adjustment Label” lets you explain any changes to your client. 

With these editing superpowers at your fingertips, you can ensure your draft invoices are polished and error-free before they embark on their journey to your clients. Now go forth and conquer those invoices!
